On Saturday, Dec. 17, The Room Records, of Concord, hosted Hip Hop Toys 4 Kids Part II, a benefit to provide Christmas gifts for needy children in the Concord area. Franklyn Rosario and his 1-month-old son, Franklyn Jr., joined rapper Doe-G on stage for the show’s grand finale.
“Hip Hop 4 Kids” brought performers from all over New England with various cultural backgrounds. Jose Concepcion performed Taino Dance.
Proceeds from the ticket price and concession stand also benefited the Cultural Exchange Club at New Hampshire Technical Institute. Belly dancer Linda Mejia performed the traditional dance from Egypt. Mejia hand made her own costume for the event.
Rosario, owner of The Room Records, appeared on stage several times during the night, rapping and dancing. Rosario performed the bachata, a dance from his home in the Dominican Republic, with Alivia Cotton.
Ryan Turner, musical director of the Chorale, conducts the choir of local school children during the group’s rehearsal. The Chorale performed their selection for the public on Friday, Dec. 16, and Sunday, Dec 18.
Juli Miller, along with the Concord Chorale, performs the world premiere of Hodie Christus Natus Est, composed by New Hampshire native Thomas Vignieri.
Performing seasonal favorites from around the world, the Concord Chorale rehearsed for its annual Christmas concert, “Sounding Joy,” on Thursday, Dec. 15, at St. John’s Church in Concord.
