ALLENSTOWN
Rape suspect nabbed
Robert Hanright captured Sept. 23 in Maine By Nicholas Brown An Allenstown man accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl was brought back to New Hampshire after a manhunt that ended in Maine. Robert Hanright, 38, of 5 Whitten St., was tracked down by the Maine Violent Crimes Task Force after U.S. Marshall’s pursued him since early August. Police ar-rested Hanright on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 2:45 p.m., hours before he was profiled on Fox television network’s “America’s Most Wanted.” Hanright is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in his apartment after giving her methadone, according to court records. He’s also accused of interference with custody, as the girl had recently run away from an area children’s home, according to an affidavit. Hanright’s criminal history spans four states including New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Illinois and includes assault on a police officer, fugitive from justice and numerous convictions for violent behavior. He’s been convicted on 31 of 34 previous charges, noted prosecutor Katherine Rogers. Mulholland has said Hanright has lived in Allenstown most of his life, but said most of the local convictions have been in Concord and Manchester. A Hooksett District Court judge set Hanright’s bail at $105,000 cash. A probable cause hearing is set for Tuesday, Oct. 3.
