Selectman: Fire article understates cost of new employeesA firefighter-submitted warrant article requests $221,258 for hiring 18 new firefighter/EMTs, but the move could ultimately cost Goffstown taxpayers additional millions of dollars, the chairman of the town's board of selectmen said.
Department merger to top debateFront and center is the issue of consolidating the police, fire, emergency medical services and code enforcement into one unified public safety department to be led by one public safety director. The proposed article says the town would shave $77,016 from the operating budget, if accepted by voters.
Cuts for kindergartenThe bad news is that Goffstown residents attending the annual deliberative session of School District Meeting on Monday, Feb. 6, will be presented with an article asking for more financing to go toward the new kindergarten facility. The good news is that the money will not be coming out of their own pockets.
50 warrant articlesWeare residents will have plenty to debate when they convene at the town's annual deliberative session of Town Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Making up the deficitThe New Boston School District was faced with many obstacles in creating its 2006 warrant, including trying to balance a budget deficit this year while trying to avoid the same predicament next year. |
