U13-B boys
On Sunday, June 12, Goffstown.s Parks
and Recreation lacrosse team fell just short
of the championship in tournament action,
completing the year with an impressive
mark of 7-2.
In the first contest, Goffstown stayed even
with a talented Hampsted team, exchanging
goals through the first three quarters. The
locals, however, couldn't keep the pace in
the fourth quarter, falling 10-5.
Cam Finn had a remarkable day in net
making 23 saves in the first contest. Collin
Bourque scored four goals and Steven
Edwards added a tally while Quinn Nolan
notched three assists.
In the consolation game, Goffstown
defeated Exeter, 10-5, taking third place
in the U13-B division after finishing 29th
in 2004.
The goals were scored by Connor House-
Myers, Drew Simoneau, and Edwards,
as well as three for Nolan and four by
Bourque.
Caleb Cyeka had a pair of assists, Mike
Jutras had one, and Cam Finn compiled 15
saves for the day.
U15-B boys
The U15 boys traveled to Oyster River on
two separate occasions to complete the state
championship game against Rye, posting an
8-7 nail-biting victory to become the state
champs in the B division.
In the first attempt to play the final on
Sunday, June 12, inclement weather postponed
the match with just over two minutes
remaining in the opening half.
Connor Nolan made several key saves
to keep the game close before Nick Ayer
netted an unassisted goal and Liam House-
Myers scored on a Jake Gingras pass to
tie the contest, 2-2, before the game was
stopped.
On Friday, June 17, the teamswo complete
the contest.
Bryan Bourque quickly gave Goffstown
the advantage, intercepting a pass and
depositing the go-ahead goal.
Brendon Shearin added an unassisted
goal shortly after, his first of two tallies on
the day.
A.J. Plourde then picked up a loose ball
in the defensive zone and out ran the Rye
defenders before dumping a pass to Pat
Hurley who then turned and fired a shot.
Hurley.s attempted hit the post, but Bourque
was on the spot to sweep in his second
goal.
Hurley later scored on a pass from Ayer,
who then capped the scoring with a goal
assisted by House-Myers.
Rye continued to fight hard scoring, five
goals in the second half. But shorthanded
defensive play from Jim Waller, Joe Hurley,
Kyle Thomas and the midfielders denied the
comeback bid, as Goffstown walked away
with the divisional state championship.
In just its second year of competitive play,
the U15 squad finished the season with a
9-0-1 record after winning only one contest
last year.
