A 55-year-old radio tower worker fell to his death when his safety harness failed while working on the New Boston Air Force Tracking Station.

Frank Gantt, of Payton, Colo., fell from the tower shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, May 16, while he was performing maintenance work, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Gantt, a radio tower worker for the Honeywell Corporation, was suspended approximately 100 feet above the ground and secured with a rope and safety harness. When the harness failed, Gantt fell to the ground and was critically injured.

He was rushed to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment, but died en route to the hospital.

Trooper Kieran Fagan of New Hampshire State Police Troop B is currently investigating the incident. Rescue personnel from the New Boston Fire Department and EMS personnel from Bedford also responded to the call received by the state police.
