Man dies after 100-foot fall from tracking station tower

Staff Writer
A 55-year-old radio tower
worker fell to his death when
his safety harness failed while
working on the New Boston Air
Force Tracking Station.
Frank Gantt, of Payton, Colo.,
fell from the tower shortly after
6 p.m. on Monday, May 16,
while he was performing maintenance
work, according to New
Hampshire State Police.
Gantt, a radio tower worker
for the Honeywell Corporation,
was suspended approximately
100 feet above the ground and
secured with a rope and safety
harness. When the harness
failed, Gantt fell to the ground
and was critically injured.
He was rushed to Elliot Hospital
in Manchester for treatment,
but died en route to the
hospital.
Trooper Kieran Fagan of New
Hampshire State Police Troop
B is currently investigating the
incident. Rescue personnel from
the New Boston Fire Department
and EMS personnel from
Bedford also responded to the
call received by the state police.
