City still needs
watchful eye
While Manchester’s Board of Aldermen, the School Board and Mayor Frank Guinta have voted not to lay off teachers at West High School and other city schools, students and parents still need make their concerns known because we’re not in the clear just yet. City officials may still decide to eliminate athletic programs, ROTC, art, music and other programs that give students a well-rounded education. Kudos to the members of Bedford School Board and those from Hooksett who sat down with city officials on Tuesday, May 13. They continue to keep a watchful eye on how the city spends our money. Yes, it is still our money. We are paying Manchester to educate our students until they are fully transitioned to Bedford High School, and the city must live up to its end of the contract. Bedford School Board Chairman David Sacks, who is serving as spokesman for the town, said although no legal proceedings are imminent, it could eventually mean spending money on a lawsuit, and that would be a shame. Haven’t we given Manchester, directly or indirectly, more than enough of our tax money? - Editorials published by Neighborhood News Inc. are written by an editorial board.
